Sunday | 11.12.2011.
Menu is very important to many who have looked at my film and that the Americans and who are not politically interested in this have said that they feel guilty. And not just because of late intervention, but also because they did not know enough about it and they did not read more about Bosnia, said the Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie

Interviewed by: DZ. Pećanin, Voice of America

"In the Land of Blood and Honey", directorial debut of Hollywood film stars Angelina Jolie, whose theme is a love story during the war in Bosnia-Herzegovina, on Monday previewing the shows in New York.

Jolie, whose film screened on Thursday in Sarajevo, victims who are told that it was a seismic prikazujesuštinu authentic story of the war, on the occasion of the New York premiere gave an interview to the VOA newsroom language.

Last night I was in Washington saw your movie a second time, not many people at an event so that I could cry, for the first time I could. You think that the Bosnian war story dirljivija lot of others, which unfortunately exist because you've chosen as the theme of his film. You want to send a universal message of the rest of the world with this film?

I think that the universal message certainly applies to tolerance and understanding. I spent a year traveling the world and getting to know different places in post-conflict phase, and always saddened me that there is not enough intervention and help that is needed to heal wounds. I wondered what we can do to prevent this situation from the start and that's why I was angry, frustrated and sad. As for Bosnia, the more I read and learned about it, I was more and more angry about the lack of intervention and sad because of violence against women. The more I learn, the less I understand how that can turn neighbors against neighbors, and how so wonderful, intelligent and family oriented people in this beautiful part of the world that once had the Olympic Games can be dissolved in such a way that people become so brutal each other. I wanted to make a film that would help to understand relationships between not only partners, but also fathers, mothers, sons and sisters. I want people to not forget Bosnia and not to forget what happened and to pay tribute to all the people who are all survivors. It is important to know that today this country has a lot of wounds to heal and the duty of the international community to support, unite and help in this new phase, the phase transition in this part of the world. I hope this film will at least start the discussion about it.

Scene of ethnic cleansing and forced evacuations were very touching and absolutely accurate and myself went through all this. As you all to explore, who helped you to reach so accurate and truthful historical data?

I am very happy because of what you said. I read a lot, I met many different people from both sides, from nongovernmental organizations, victims' associations, government organizations, and I spoke with everyone who wanted it. Most are affected me the story of women war victims that I met and with whom I spoke. We sat together and cried, and their stories have left such a strong impression on me that I immediately threw them in the film as they were told. I would not have made this film to the Bosnians did not agree with the scenario, I would burn it and it never would not have tried to capture. But because they agreed and they all agree to work together, it's really influenced me and shaped the screenplay. They told me-this is wrong, this needs to be fixed, and if something seemed strange to me they always say that everything was really so terrible that I am not afraid to write. It was horrible. The film we made together. This is not an American movie about Bosnia, this is a film that made an American and a lot of Bosnians.

This film means more to me than any so far

I heard that in the longer version you have of course had to shorten it a few scenes really true, but they've kicked out because you thought they were too brutal for the camera.

Personally I must say I was very angry and I fervently wanted to let people know what it was and I wanted the audience to sit down and be bombarded by what happened. So I did not want to hide anything and I think I have succeeded. But There have been many things that were even worse. I read and talked to someone about how there were lots of dogs that had something to eat and they eat human organs. I filmed a scene in which a dog eats a human hand. Some see it as a metaphor in which the pet becomes a beast. This is a very powerful scene that the actors are brilliantly staged. We looked at the scene and the image was something that the audience could not stand it. I was frustrated because I wanted them to say that if you can not watch a movie, to then watch it live.

This leads to my next question. Do you think the American public that views film can truly understand what happened. I want to say that the film is completely clear and the people are good or bad, and the audience can immerse yourself in the emotional scenes and some say, O God, this is horrible, but do you really think that people can understand the suffering of others if we do not pass through it?

Not in the same way, of course. I can not because I have never experienced war itself, only through other people's experiences and I hope I never will. But to me it is very important to many people who view this film and that the Americans and who are not politically interested in this have said that they feel guilty. And not just because of late intervention, but also because they did not know enough about it and they did not read more about Bosnia. They even wanted to visit Bosnia. This is a beautiful part of the world and I hope that people will be familiar to Bosnia and see how talented actors and deeply emotional people live there, plus they are so fun and nice and very easy to become acquainted with them and fall in love with them in this part of the world. I hope that this film will contribute to it.

Your humanitarian work is absolutely zadivljujućii it is difficult to understand how someone can give yourself all over it. Do you think this is for you personally more important than his acting career?

Absolutely. My family comes first, I live for my family and kids, and besides I am a citizen of the world and I want to do good deeds in his life. I really care about other people and want to contribute to solving the problem.Acting is a wonderful career and a great job, but it's even more important. This movie has linked these two of my world and why this movie means to me more than any film I've shot so far.
